'Walking with Bamboo'
meditation scarf

Meditation Scarf
Lotus appliquè

The 'Lotus' design

I was inspired to create this original design by the ancient concepts of the lotus, considered a sacred lily, which remains a part of the art of the Egyptian and Buddhist philosophy. Traditionally the lotus represents the sacred center of the universe, the core of our souls; by contacting this pure center within ourselves, and discovering our most joyous dreams and acting on them, we create the environment to manifest our dreams. The Lotus is also called a 'mudflower'; with roots in the pond soil, yet in beauty the plant floats and blossoms on the surface.

One of the 'prayers for the earth', with the message 'Follow Your Dream', is in Japanese and the other is in English. The appliquè is hand printed on silk. The label on the scarf is also in silk.

Meditation Scarf
Bamboo appliquè

The 'Bamboo' design

Studying the nature of bamboo I have found direction for my life and inspiration for my art. Bamboo, a grass, lives under almost any condition and is found on all continents, remaining green even in winter. Bamboo limits it's height when it meets an obstacle, retreating and drawing it's growth inside, thickening it's base. Bamboo is designated as a 'female' plant and representing the 'yin', the flexibility, strength, growth and resiliency of female energy, inherent in both women and men.

The Japanese calligraphy says "TOUCH THE EARTH". The first two kanji or characters refer to the soil of our earth and the planet;the following kanji refer to 'touching', having compassion for all living beings.

The fine art calligraphy called 'SHODO' was created by Kyoko Hunt, who lives in Kyoto, Japan.

One of the 'prayers for the earth' is in Japanese and the other is in English. The appliquè is hand printed on silk. The label on the scarf is also in silk.

Meditation Scarf
Dragon appliquè

The 'Millennium Dragon' design

Dancing and shouting, "Good Fortune!" this original design of a Chinese dragon, who represents 'life force' or 'chi', leads us into the new millennium ( A hoped-for period of joy, serenity, prosperity, and justice). This is a most auspicious sign for the new century!

Reaching down from the sky and stepping into the sea, this dragon performs a Tai Chi step called 'Brush Knee Twist'!

One of the 'prayers for the earth' , with the message 'Good Fortune', is in Chinese and the other is in English. The 'good fortune' is about good health, a happy home and the awareness of the miracle of life. The appliquè is hand printed on silk. The label on the scarf is also in silk.

Although 'walking meditation' refers to a particular Yoga exercise, 'walking with bamboo' meditation

is dedicated to the interconnection between mindfulness and action;

the importance of remembering that this most precious life is simply happening.

Each scarf is handcrafted in spun bamboo fabric with a cotton 'kimono' print trim and

an appliqued silk 'prayer for the earth', to honor the concept of John Muir's that "we are all hitched together".

Hand wash - iron the scarf with a tea towel over the silk hand printed appliquè - Do NOT dry clean.

Each original design was created to bless your personal, quiet, meditative space.
