Night Lights

Night Light
Bamboo
This fiberglass 'Shoji' cover is 5 1/4 high and 3 1/4 wide. My original bamboo design was inspired by the plants growing outside the studio door. There's also a little dragonfly darting through the bamboo leaves.

Crane

This fiberglass 'Shoji' cover is 5 1/4 high and 3 1/4 wide.

Inspired by the elegant graceful crane in silhouette I created this design. One can well understand why in the language of symbolism, which is of the most profound importance in Chinese art, these images are used to transcend our 'everyday life'. Cranes are often considered representing 'the family'. The fidelity of the coupled parent birds is admirable, expressing the peace found in a sustained relationship.

Tree

These beautiful oaks grow in Northern California, near where my father used to live. They are an inspiration to all who stand in their grace.

Om/Lotus

This fiberglass 'Shoji' cover is 5 1/4 high and 3 1/4 wide.

This design, using the ancient symbol OM, celebrates all life, which is dependent on the gift from the cosmos of air or breath. Air chooses no one, but vibrates through all fauna and flora and folks.
We are all one as we breathe!

OM, the primordial sound (or cosmic hum) of the universe, is a Sanskrit expression of solemn affirmation, an auspicious salutation, "hail!", also representing everything. Each particle of existence is impregnated with energy and consciousness.

Astronomers at NASA's Chandra X-Ray Observatory found what can be described as sound waves emanating from a black hole a million light years from Earth.
The sound translates to the note B flat the 'tone' of OM!
Unfortunately it hums at a frequency a million billion times lower than we can hear.
Visualize this symbol and hum ‘OM’ (Aum) – awaken - join in peace with that which unites all life, the breath!

“We have to live in harmony and peace…this is not a dream, this is a necessity.”   The Dalai Lama

Dragon
This fiberglass 'Shoji' cover is 5 1/4 high and 3 1/4 wide.

Chinese dragons represent 'life force' or 'chi' ..... energy! My original design has the dragon stepping down from the sky and into the ocean ....the circle of life on our lovely little planet. As Jacques Couseau once stated, "I am the sea ..... and the sea is me"....indeed!
